Hi, when I load a segment with a normal map and any bump or normal shader, the texture appears all black without the effect.

What I do:
1- Load the .X file into the FPSC Segment Editor.
2- Assign the texture "xxxx_D2.dds" (the "xxxx_N.dds" are in the same dir.
3- Assign the effect "bump.fx" (tried others .fx from "Ultimate Shader Pack 1.0" also I canĀ“t see the effect at on the editor)
4- create the .fps file
5- load the segment, add lights, etc.

Notes:
A- I have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
B- If the segment has not the "xxxx_N.dds" and the ".fx" in the .fps file, I can see the texture.
C- I they are in the .fps all the object appears black.
D- When I do the same but with Ilumination map and shader looks all excelent ("xxxx_I.dds and "illuminationmap.fx")
E- I tried in other computer and happen the same.

THANKS !!!

Do the computers support these shaders?

I belive the _D2 extension is the version of the diffuse map that gets applied when you are not using shaders. If you are using shaders you need a _D extension.

Cheers

Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 512MB RAM, nVidia GeForce FX5200 128MB, Forceware 93.71, DirectX9c (Dec2006), Windows XP Pro SP2.

I tried to apply normal maps on segments and entities.

But never worked for me.

I thought it was with newer versions of FPSC.
They didnt have normal map support.

V1 did had normal map support.(or at least i though it did)

Thanks!

CHUCKIE:
I tried with the _D extension only and the result is the same. Thanks!

I think the last version v1.06 supports normal and bump beacause the shader is on the effectbank. Thanks!

Please keep trying, I really need to solve this. Thanks to all.

I'm not going to google if your computer supports these shaders! Just check if shaders work with the stock media!

I have already tried this a million times.

And i know the effectbank has shaders in it.
But as far as i know it doesnt work.

It only worked half for me....(i seriously mean "half")

Because i made a model in a shape of a normal straight wall.

Made the normal map etc etc...

Applied the textures.

And its like FPSC sliced the normal map in half.

So 1 half worked with a normal map and the other half was just
the plain texture.

ok, how can I check that?
All can I say is that I play games with lot of normal maps on it, also the Ilumination shaders works fine. There is any way to know if are supported?
An other clue is when I click on the normal and bump effects in the FPSC TEST Browser the 3D sample object appears blak. The others seems to work fine like illumination, specular, etc.

I was reading a lot of post here and I saw that you answer many of them and know a lot about this software, please give me a hand if you can. Thank you!

There are tons of bugs with it. I've had so many different outcomes.

Check it:

That may be an issue with NVIDIA graphics card? What do you think?
You at least have a half, in my case, the diffuse textures desapear and appears all the object blacked.
Can you give me a short explanation what do you do after you have the .x model loaded on the Segment Editor and the textures (format?) in the right folders? Thanks!!

Do you know if DarkBasic works better in this issues? I know is more complex on programming but if it worth it... Thanks.
