I am making a media player, and this is what I made so far of the graphical layout. I am sorry for overdoing the watermark, I just wanna protect all my content. =P But what do you all think? I worked on it for three days now (3 school days, I would be almost finished if I didn't just start school) but tell me your 100% honest oppinion and what you think I can do to make it better. I am using The Gimp and I am fairly new to it, so my skills are pretty low in it. What I am doing in there basically is what I learned and school and what I self tought myself about Adobe Photoshop...

The text in the background is sort of distracting. But I'm not really much of an artist so I can't recomend any more than that.

That is the watermark, to prevent people from taking it and using it. =P

Ok, it is way too uninteresting. Try some Photoshop tutorials. You have watermarked an image that most people could make in about 10 minutes.

Lol, I know. Like I said, it is in it's beta stage. Also, I am going to get someone to help me with part of it. I just have this right now. I was seeing if anyone has any suggetstions on what I should add to it, inlcuding what I already got.

The best interfaces are shiny metal, and glass, with nice buttons, and glowing lights.

If you're going to watermark I'd say use images rather than text... watermarks that simple would be very easy to take off, especially if someone just subtracted a copy of the text only from the image.

BlinkOk, what's those things at the lower right outer edge? And the glow of the lowest button? Compression artefacts? Besides that it looks cool.

To Maindric, I think you should find yourself some tutorials and practice. This is basically two rectangles with a drop shadow effect, if you ask me. Come to think of it, those rectangles aren't even the same height! Come on. You don't need to aim as high as BlinkOk's work, but a little practice can help.

So, take a critical look at your work yourself. Would you use a program that looked like this?

Try a glossy graphite type interface, those rock.
