i was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem,
Ive got a two player game to work successfully on a LAN using the TCP/IP option. It seems to work using computer names or IP addresses. However I tried it with my friend on a seperate computer using IP addresses but it couldnt find the session :-s
Are you supposed to use the TCP/IP option for remote computers? i'm sure i've seen mulitplayer games where you just have to enter the IP of the host.

any ideas appreiciated,
thanks

Yeah tcp/ip is the right one you use for internet. I would suggest seeing if he has a fire wall blocking you. And if the port is right and if he is useing 56k then the persons IP will be changing every time you connect to the internet. If you use XP you got a fire wall built in pretty much that you got to turn off.

AMD Atherlon 2400+ XP, 380 DDr memeory, ATI Radeon 9000 64 DDR.

And a Katana.

If you have a Null Modem cable you can use the serial link.

There are several types of null modem cable. 25 port: 3 wire, 7 wire. 9 port: 3 wire, 7 wire. And any combination of 25/9 port plugs on the cable.

The 25 pin serial port:

2 TX goes to 3 RX
3 RX goes to 2 TX
7 N goes to 7 N

Then my memory gets sketchy for the 7 wire

8 <-> 15 ?
20 - 20

Dunno. So long ago since I made one... Better yet, why not stick to your nice and fast network connection, serial connections are the realm of Amiga's. (Although I was one of the privaleged few to have an Amiga Ethernet network! Yay me and my overkill antics).
