quick question, can anyone else using patch4.1 actually get Q3BSP formats to load within DBP without it crashing?

all i have is

just to test if they even load, and all it does is sit there with a blank screen - all i'm trying to load is a standard Box BSP, i've tried all the formats i currently have available Q3/Q3TA/JK2/SOF2/EF and none work
Half-Life BSP maps work though, i know the new GTKRadiant now has HL Support ... but i really want to work with Q3 format instead.

If its a quake3 bsp you must read the map from within the pk3 file so you have to use the command:

load bsp "pk3name.pk3","maps/test.bsp"

The pk3 must contain the textures and scripts (common.shader and other shader files) and they must be in their standard directories.

no i've tried from within a pk3 as well ... and no joy, just crashs
someone ACTUALLY try it and tell me if they can actually get it to work - i'd like to see a screenie to prove it because i've just not been able to do it.

@Raven

I have no problems loading my test BSP. Email me if you want the screenshot.

Alternatively download it for yourself:

http://snow.prohosting.com/~clone99/bspbugs.zip

The reason it is called bspbugs.zip is because it was to show Mike problems with BSP collision when walking into angled walls. In this demo you will fall through the floor etc. because it was my first ever attempt at BSPs, a couple of days after DBP arrived. Replace the main code with the source below to improve things a bit.

In addition, you might not be allowed to have BSPs in directories other than the one the executable is in.

i see why i wouldn't load ... bloody stupid though if you ask me, i mean i wanna keep my pk3 neat and its not as if i'm putting it into a 64name directory - just put it in a directory called "maps"

ho hum... well both formats work fine now that i know that i have to have them in the base of the zip (this should've been in the help somewhere *HINT-HINT*)

@Raven

This is in the BSP spec. I think, but I'm not sure. Did you try the map in Q3?

yeah i did... the maps worked in q3 & jk2 which is why it was annoying when it didn't work.

in q3 you can actually put levels in folders upto 64 strings for directories from the base, base would be
+fs_game [base]\maps\...

and then from those three dots you have 64 characters to use
but it seems weird how the identical setup of HL files works but the Q3 ones didn't - i mean that doesn't seem weird to you?
