Hi

I just finished my model with textures, bones, riggid ... and now I just need to animate it, how should I start?. should I leave a empty frame? or start the animations right strait in the first frame? should I start with the walk animation? or other?

Also other tips will be welcome as well

BTW I´m using milkshape to everything from modeling to animation.

Cheers and thank you in advance!

Hey, Sopo, I'm almost in the same position as you (still need to figure out the bones thing) but use Blender. Do you find milkshape easy to use? I ask because I've been having a lot of trouble animating in Blender, and find it had to make bones.

Milkshape its so easy for that! you should try it, at least the free version (however you cant save or export in this version ) and then you will see if its worth for you or not.

Cheers!

What are you attempting to do with it? I am guessing it is a character model. If it is a cycle animation you should start it at a point in which it can cycle smoothly to once the animation is complete. Hope this helps. I could use more info on what you are attempting to do though to truly help out.

A tip: I always had problems when copying and pasting keyframes in my milkshape days. Whenever you need to do this, you select the frame you want and select copy, duh. Then go to the frame you want to paste to and hit paste. Again, duh. But, Make sure you SET THE KEYFRAME after pasting or else it will not stay.

I always had that problem and never figured it out until I moved on to other animation programs.

Hmm maybe one of those nice guys can create a thread on animating your model.. For me and many others milkshape would be good. Although no reason why others like blender etc can't be done aswell.

I've only just figured out how to bone my model so I have got clue about rigging etc.

I spent ages looking for a tutorial on bones and found this one.

bum can't find the link now

This one deals with animating in milkshape

.. you won't be doing it for nothing , you'll be helping all us fellow forum'ers out of a hole.

If you've ever learnt anything at all from these forums it would be nice to give a littel back

I will be as soon as I know what it is

Besides, although you perhaps already know the best way to learn something is to try and teach someone else. I've read that so many times. I do this at work (I program industrial robots) and it helps.

I've just read through it. It makes sense to me only as I have 3D knowledge.

I think I could probably follow it to make the stairs.

I think your problem is you need to explain things a bit more.

you have in there *DON'T USE TRIANGLES* why not? what happens if you do?

You need to explain keypress's a bit more..

I think people find them too technical because you don't give enough detail on each part.. why you do it this way not another, or what happens if you do such and such instead.

I'd also run a spellcheck and take out some of the slang words.

Pictures are a good inclusion, much better than the draft .doc file you had to start. A picture says a thousand words.

Just fill it out. Give it some character and give some more info.

Than see how it looks.
