Just a small tool that I made for speed my work.
Free and open source 3ds2dbo and x2dbo converter.

Simply drag and drop your 3ds or x model onto the EXE and it will convert it to dbo file.
Output file directory is the same as input file directory.

Worked perfectly. Congrats. Dark Donkey, start reading the posts - drag&drop onto the .exe and the output file is in the input file's folder.

Nice one .

Yes, it's tru the DBO format loads faster.
DBO files are small and work better than .x some times.

dark donkey:

I'm sorry if it don't work for You.
U can use your browser to find output file on your computer.
Normally it will be the same direction that i nput file direction.

If you're running on Vista, it might get picky about the exe creating files depending on where you run it from. If you are using Vista, try checking the box to Run as Administrator.

I convert a poser file to .3ds once i do that it loses all its coulour. it just a white object. So what do i need to put the coulouring back onto the converted object/model?

I'm going to trying this dbo converter, thanks Radek

Wow,so much faster.

@render1 When exporting check to see if there are options to export textures, it will then export the textures as image files such as a .jpg image.Usually in the same folder as your object file. You can then load the object then the texture images and apply the texture or textures to the object.
