Well no problem in stating that you don't believe in God or any gods is fine, because we've seen people state their belief in God and amongst people's favourite books, I noted people put 'the bible'. Should be nowt wrong with expressing things like that on these forums, if it be required in the context of a discussion. I consider myself an atheist Buddhist. An atheist who finds himself relating to the central points of Buddhism and sees meditation as a being a good thing. I'll state that because I want no assumptions made from this message. ('Atheist' is often a misunderstood term...I won't discuss it, but those who are curious - look it up on Wikipedia or in the dictionary)
But of course, this forum is quite multicultural in that there's someone from everywhere (Different parts of America, Canada, UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Japan, Finland, Australia etc.) and thus taking those beliefs into a level of discussion is not a good idea...the issue of religion can leave people to be extremely defensive. So maybe making points like "God doesn't give a damn about us" remains inappropriate is it implies that God exists and that he doesn't care about you or your family...or people as a whole (dependent on who 'we' is) - there are many views about God, whilst some would tend to agree with you...especially as you're an atheist, the Westboro baptist Church would certainly share that view, but other denominations may find that somewhat offensive because they believe God loves everyone. Whereas you and I don't believe He exists and as we'd expect people here to accept that, we'd also have to respect those other people and accept what they believe...if not in the real world, then at least on here, after all, it's a forum that requires it.
This has probably broken the rules...but in good intention - not to stir up discussion, but rather to prevent it.
