blender is the best free program, it is comparable to 3ds max

Okay letäs just say this... Blender has the most hard UI ever! And gamespace also has some learning curve, I would love it if you would get more involved in Anim8or as I saw that you made some basic newb stuff with it in your other thread, you have also written in my showcase thread and all stuff in that thread was made by Anim8or, so please, I would choose anim8or, it's free, easy to use, and super-awsome!(yes I am a huge Anim8or fanboy)

Hi Seerzack,
Blender is good but will require a lot of patience to learn.
The difference between trueSpace and gameSpace is that gameSpace is basically trueSpace with non game modeling functionality removed.
GamrSpace Light is free but limited to saving models of up to 650 faces and can be downloaded here :- http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/gsl/gsl.asp

I used Anim8or for a while, but now I'm a massive Wings3D fanboy.

Give wings3d a try, it is superb.

Seerzack, well here comes the bad news... Anim8or can't export it's animations so basicly you will be able to see it in Anim8or but you wont be able to use the animations anywere else

Blender is your best bet. It animates, sculpts, models(of course) , has a great particle system. And my favourite you can export in lots of formats.

Id recommend Wings 3D. My brother is in the graphics field so he's let me use his 3DS Max and Maya software whenever I need it, and I know what Im doing with them now, as I've practiced with them a lot, reading his lesson books, and even still I stick with Wings 3D for modelling. Every tool you'll ever need is a right click away, and the controls are really intuitive. Blender is alright if you can get past the learning curve and the intensity of all of the different options.

Try Wings 3D for a week and I'll bet you'll be hooked.

blender is not that complicated, you will most lickly never use 98% of the buttons or options, you only need to be concerned with object mode and edit mode, aswell as the edit buttons pannel



try my stairs in blender tut, it gives a basic overview of the program

learn blender, you will never regret it.

Im amazed i thought you would be alot older by the way you act and what you can do. Im around the same age as you and cant do anything like what you do. But i didnt mention my percise age becouse we arnt aloud so i suggest you edit that part out.

I gotta mention this while I'm here: I do believe we're supposed to keep age out of the forums, pardon me if I'm mistaken.

But, I'm a HUGE wings 3d lover. I have it, and Hexagon 3D. I do my base modeling in wings 3d, and then export and use hexagon for touchups, and one of these days, texturing. If you have Vista, I'm sorry to say, Wings 3D appears to have compatibility issues, but it could just be an organic error Wings 3D has a simple, comfortable array of tools, and I've seen great work done with it.

And a side note on people who think Anim8or can't do good models: do we remember Neodelito's models? Superb, and if I remember correctly, they were Anim8or.

The simple truth of Blender is that you have to learn the keyboard short cuts. There is a learning curve, but once you get 'over the hump' it become very easy to use.

Me, I'm a mouse and menu guy. No matter how much I try to like Blender, it always pisses me off in the end. If you're new to 3D modelling, try Blender for a month. If it works for you, great, you've found a free powerful modelling suite that you can get years and years of enjoyment out of. On the other hand, if you're still burning brain cells after a month, you'll never master Blender and you should try out some of the other modellers like Metasequoia, Anim8tor, Wings, etc.

Fair and balanced (because fan boyz make me sick.)
