I tried demo version of Magic FPS but I get missing or invalid Comdlg32.ocx file missing. There's another program for making segments called "Signs" but I can't find freeware version of that program. Any suggestions?

Ah yes, I had that problem with MagicFPS as well.
Make a .txt file in the folder where it's looking for it, then rename it comdlg32.ocx, and it works fine after that, it can't have been that vital to MagicFPS's running, so it wasn't that important in the first place.

a free and simple entity editor would be entity workshop 2 by Wehtam. I use it, and it's excellent. Gets your models ingame with a minimum of fuss.

I tried Entity Workshop. It's OK for me. How do I create walls so that there are no gaps between levels? I found out that there are two walls touching each other between room segments. If I delete walls from room segments and add different kinds of walls such as half-height walls and fences, there are gaps between levels

You are saving them as entities right? With the fence selected, tap Pgdown really quickly, and the fence will cover the gap.

I found out that exterior walls extend below the floor and that interior walls don't extend below the floor. How thick is the floor?
