I found an EBook on the making of a low-poly game character:

http://www.3dtotal.com/services/swordmaster/swordmaster.asp

It's only available for 3ds max, C4D, Maya, Lightwave, and Softimage XSI.
So, I have a couple questions:

1. Would I be able to use any of them to any extent with Blender??

2. If so, which one would I be best with?

I really just want to know how different those packages are from Blender in terms of Modelling tools. Any help would be appreciated.

download the free learning version of maya, and do it with that.

all programs have simaler features, but thay do things slightly difarently, you would haft to know blender's toolset verry well, but once you do it is posoble to do any tut with any program.

learn blender, you will never regret it.

Well I've learned Blender's toolset quite well, and I'd prefer to stick with it. It says that the tutorial should be do-able in most 3d apps. I was just curious about which one I would be best off with.

Did you even read what I said??

I want to know which EBook I should buy for Blender. I know I could probably use any of them, but if there is any one that would be better than the others, than I'm gonna buy it. Otherwise, I'll just pick the one I think is best.

If your familiar with the tool set in Blender, you can work around any tools that aren't in blender being discussed in the EBook. Personally I think you should go for the 3DS Max book. If you get lost there are always layouts for blender that mimic those in Maya or Max:
