Hello,

I'm looking for some 3D models on the web and i found some really good ones at some stores and others for free. I want to know what i need to convert those models (generally in .x, .3ds) to the FPS Creator format. What modifications are needed and etc.

Also, i want to know what's the polygons limit for each entity? I can use only low-poly models?

.X is the Fps Creator format.

There is no polygon limit, but models that are really high-poly will lag your game. I'd say characters should be no more than 3000 polys. For other models, i'm not sure, but try to aim for less than the 3000 mark.

Good luck.

Many thanks for the answer, Veron. So, if i find anything other than .x, i just need to convert to .x? No special configs? If yes, that's great.

Yeah, just convert it to .X

Also, to make it an actual entity that you can select and place in-game, download the program called MakeEntitiesFromXFiles from the "Downloads" section of the FPSC site (www.fpscreator.com) In that you just pretty much select what texture you want applied to the model, the name of the model, the material the model is made of (stone, wood, metal etc...)

It's quick and simple to use, takes about 2 minutes (literally) to set up the .X model as an entity.

When you download the MakeEntitiesFromXFiles, it comes with a few video tutorials which explain really well how to use it.

Best of luck.

I'd also suggest downloading Entity Workshop 2 (do a forum search on it, though it should be no further than the 2nd page in FPSC Chat) as it is very easy to use and gives you scaling references, which I find to be a life saver.
