Just as the title states, when I attempt to test my game, everything loads, but when I click "OK" to test the game, the window doesn't come up. I'm still looking at the FPS Editor window, but I can hear the ambient sounds from the game.

Perhaps this is a Vista bug. I read around on the board and saw someone had posted that v1.06 was working for them, so I went and got a downgrade for FPSC. No go, it's still doing it.

Should I downgrade to v1.04?

1.06 works fine for me on Vista, make sure you're running FPSC "Run as Administrator"

Failing that, try a re-install.

Got any proof to back up the "crappiness" of it? Or just jumping on the noob bandwagon of people who hate it before they even try it?

Ah, hm. I went into the properties and ticked "Run as Administrator" for the app... and now it won't even load.

Tried running in compatibility mode for Win XP SP2... still won't load. Tried unticking the Run as Administrator box, and simply right-clicking and selecting Run as Administrator... still won't load.

What's going on?!

Absolutely no idea, but it works perfectly for me. Try a re-install.

Your sound drivers seem to be working OK but you have no visuals.

Maybe the fault lies with your video card drivers.
Try reinstalling them or updating them.
Yet again, maybe it could be Direct X needs updating?

Two possible culprits.

Have luck

Thanks for the replies, guys. All sound like possible candidates for trouble, I agree.

I've re-installed twice now and not getting any results.

My drivers have recently been updated, and I don't think DX needs updating since I was just playing Doom3, Half Life 2, and Eve Online all on max settings. DirectX doesn't seem to be an issue for my computer right now.

Also, if it has problems then how was I able to open it up in the first place to make a small map?

I know this is a bit basic, but have you tried an ALt-Tab into the window?

I often get this with FPSC. I don't know what the Vista equivalent of Alt-Tab is because I haven't braved the upgrade yet.

It's the same key-sequence in Vista, as are most system commands.

And yes, I have tried that, but thank you for trying to think of new possible solutions.

I could have burned you to the ground with that one with so much back up info on its crappiness, and yes I've tryed it and honestly i love its theme style in fact its got some nice features but you can have X10 on Xp with the proper card and edits!

Before you two start getting into the nitty gritty of your deeply involved conversation about the fecal matter of OS's, let's think about the Topic of this thread and try not to get it locked, ok?

We don't need to start in on "Vista bug #n vs. XP bug #z".

I am just having a slight issue with FPSC right now, and honestly I don't blame Vista. It's more likely something I'm overlooking time and again like all my problems are.

Try installing Direct X9.0L, which is a DX9 copy for Vista. Might just solve the problem. Not sure though.

Oh yeah, but backup your old version of DirectX 9.0c. I heard from somewhere that there had been some teething issus with L. Might have been just a lot of hot air, but you can never be too careful

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Perhaps this may help some Vista users in the future.

I solved the weird problems by simply giving the admin priviledge to all 5 exe's in the main FPSC folder, namely:

FPSC-Game.exe
FPSC-MapEditor.exe
FPSCreator.exe
FPSCreatorDumpMem.exe
FPSC-Screens.exe

I went into each of their Properties->Compatability Tab->Check "Run as Administrator"->Apply->OK

Hope this can help someone else.

And I am very glad to have found some helpful people on this board, lol.
