Hi, I found a website called www.genemation.com. It has this product called GenHead that's supposed to generate 3d human head models from a front and side photo. It has some samples that look amazing, and it says on the site that you can make the model in 4 different resolutions (for example, I think 1 might mean the resolution is low poly - good for games). It can also export to common formats like .3ds, .mb (Maya Binary), and .obj (Wavefront Object). There are tutorials on how to use it on the site. If anyone has used this product before, please tell me:

1. Is this product worth buying? (It's about $300, and I am going to try to save up for it.)

2. I know a little about blendshapes in Maya, so should I use blenshapes for the head. (The website says that the models which are generated come with a facial rig for the facial animation when exported.)

I don't have $300 yet, but I saw on some other post on this site where someone was posting a link to a site where they have some free software called FaceWorx. The website was called www.looxis.com. I downloaded the FaceWorx software program (it's free), and it's probably very similar to the $300 product (GenHead), although with FaceWorx, when you install it, it says that you cannot use the head models comercially. With GenHead I think it says on the site that you can use the models comercially, and that the models are copyright-free.

When I used FaceWorx, I told someone to take a side and front view picture of me. I then loaded in the two photos, and made some adjustments. The model I made was really cool, and looked real (except for the hair, which gets cut off in the photo modeling process - but I added hair using paintFX in Maya).
