Yes I can, of course I can, see you stumbled upon my secret project, nobody was to know about this, the models I pretend I am working on were done 4 years a go and that's my real work...

I other words, no, but I'm trying to get there, slowly, very slowly...

In my opinion thats not 3D or at least the hair its not 3D its real, even Square Enix´s artists with their multimillions gear cant do hair like this, its impossible with the actual technology.

Why would Square Enix do that if they're making art for games?

very good point, although the rendered end credits in some of the final fantasy games are getting scarily close.

Square Enix have two full length films, also they have some of the greatest 3D artists ever...

yes , but do we know if the picture shown is a single frame of a film/animation or a one off to show how much detail you can get out of it.

both Spirits within @ advent children were to be fair animated films and although , yes they did try to add a realsim factor. Even the most proficient animator artist wouldn't have put the level of detail shown in the picture above into a full movie, the rendering alone would have taken (I presume, based on when they were made and technology used, especially spirits within)litterally years and the expense would have been outstanding with no hope of getting the return on what they'd paid out for manpower and rendering farms etc.

I have yet to see more than a few frames of animation to *near* the quality of the above picture and I'm sure we are getting much closer to it, but I don't think its quite there yet. Whoever you are and however much money you have to spend on it.

I could be wrong and I would love for someone to prove me wrong.

I know, but seriously take your time to look the hair of the picture, if thats 3D then the artist who made it its a genius, In my opinion the Hair its real and face its 3D, it had been retouched in photoshop
Of course I could be wrong but seriously that level of detail of the hair its insane...

How long would it take to render something like that with lets say

a Dual quad core 3.0 with 8GB ram

If this is the kind of work that they can do now. I would not be suprised that within 10 years, we could be looking at the replacement of hollywood actors with their synthetic counterparts

And of course, people remember Squaresoft render animation and this guys renders stills. If you tried something like that in an animation render, it would take Zonks, it would take freaking ages, a single good quality image and a high quality render to that detail would in itself take time, even with some of our great computers.

Squaresoft will have to work to their best quality they can without spending several hours by their computers to render - it would seriously clog production. Add the fact doing it to such detail as they would consume much more time on their artists, so in the end they would spend more time on graphics than the more important features of the game/movie.

It seems Square Enix took a step back from Spirits Within to Advent Children in terms of hair. To me anyway.

In Spirits hair is almost free flowing. I believe on several occasions Aki brushes her hair away from her eyes.

Yet in Advent, while still flowing, the hair seems more static. Kadajs hair is the best example with his side partin that has a constant amount of main strands that hang in front of his face.

wow thats a nice picture of Bridget Moynahan, I always kinda liked her... didn't know she did nudes...

Edit: I'm not a huge fan of building models and then just painting them with photos...

Its based in a videogame, the hair of the characters are like that in the game, like Cloud´s Hair its has a complete unreal stile no one on the earth could have a hair like him without using something...

I am not convinced those are even real 3-d models on that website... see picture attached.... if they are they have got to be the best /(100%) accurate facial models I have ever seen...

edit: I am a big fan of Zhang Ziyi and it took me all of about 5 minutes to resize her picture and put on top of the 3-d model one; not perfect but with a little photoshoping i could make it work...

Nah Heckno, they are 3d models. You can still sorta tell. Though they are amazing... Best render I've ever seen and amazing that it's a replica of a real person.

The one posted up the top is def. 3D unless she is a littel bos-eyed and has plastic lips. The crease in her cheeck looks a lil too deep and I could be wrong but rhe teeth don't seem to match her face.

@Agent Dink - ZZ is not a 3-d render - your gonna tell me that guy put her face, head, shoulders in the exact pose as my picture from a fan website on purpose

@penfold - it's called photoshop , look at the forehead in the center - skin has natural human texture, whereas other areas of the face (nose bridge) are smooth like from airbrushing, how about the white strip on the left part of the top lip....

edit: I am just saying some of those pictures/renders look more like touched up photos than 3-d renders, and the ones that you can tell 100% are 3-d renders have a completely different look and feel than the ones I am pointing out...

But we are all entitled to our opinions, right or wrong on the matter...

the white strip effect can be found in real life from simple lip gloss, I'd take a pic of my GF wearing some but I doubt she'd be up for that.

Chances are it is from a real photo. take a look at the vid real on his website it shows you construction of a woman in a bikini then the overlay process.

I'd advise you to go to your local newsagents (equivilant of Uk's WHsmiths, possibly walmart). and see if you can find a copy of cg arts or something like that and just flick through and look at some of the real life model *Adverts*.

It may not be a 3D model but it has some of the quirks I recognise in it, unless you can prove without a doubt its not..

Short of getting a sworn testimonial from the artist thats not likely to happen. It looks 3D to me and yes we are entitled to our own opinion. Yours is its not , mine is it is..

This one looks more natural than the first one. The only things that I do not like about it are the lobes and the colour of the hair. Just my taste. I try to imagine an animation of the japanese girl.

I will never be able to make something like that
