Okay, i was a little confused about the "Transparent" option in a character's properties, so I decided to do a little test.

I made a completely black .bmp and used it as the texture for one of the default characters. Then I set Transparent to "1", and ran the game.

Problem #1: The character model is not transparent in any way, shape, or form.

Problem #2: The character model isn't even using the texture that I gave to them!

Any ideas?

I think the texture needs to be a tga or dds. Play around with a transparent png as well. They can be made in photoshop and GIMP.

I don't think you can change the texture the character uses in their right click menu... you need to copy the character and edit their fpe to point to your texture and then import them in as a new character (I think)...

Just wait a second.

nope

(BTW. Black in BMPs is always assumed to be transparent)

actually, you should delete the DDS, BIN and DBO Files of the entity
and maybe change the texture in the FPE

This should do the trick.

Totally black, with an alpha layer attached on it.

Its in DDS format, and you may use it however you want to use it.

Yep also.
But you should have a alpha layered texture.

It was to my understanding that a setting of 1 would set the transparency of the object to "Transparent", meaning all parts that are textured with black would be see-through. If the setting was set to 2 then the object would give a semi-transparent look to it, like a window.

I got it working with a .bmp (For future reference, it does use BMPs)

I just made an entirely new entity, so that I could configure it how I wanted.

Thank you for the assistance, cheese cake. If my version ever quits working, I'll give yours a go.

May I ask why you would want an entity you cant see at all?

Thanks
