How do I create objects that snap into place like stairs? Are there samples or tutorials? Which programs do I need besides 3D modeling programs.

I'm not sure if I created the half-wall overlay segment correctly. The editing cursor shows an arrow at each end of the line instead of the arrow with the letter "O". Is it possible to re-skin the concrete stairs as carpeted stairs with white sides?

Segments snap into place, try magic FPS or signs if you dont know how to make a segment.

If your talking about an entity, you can press "B" once for semi-snap and "B" again for center snap.

If I make copies of "Staircase Concrete.*" files, put them in new folder, and change the texture names in "Staircase Concrete.fps", how do I change the name of the object that appears in the Object Browser window?

You must rename the 'Staircase Concrete' FPS file and the icon (bmp) with the new name that you want to give your stairs. To keep the name showing in the editor, you will have to create a 'notepad' file with the same name and also type that name in the notepad file, then place that notepad file at this address in 'languagebank'
C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\languagebank\english\textfiles\library\segments\???..
Where you see the question marks at the end of this address is the place where you create a folder with the same name that you have in segmentbank and then place the 'notpad' file in it.
The address above is from a 'standard' install of FPSCreator in Windows XP, so if you have installed FPSCreator to any other address then adjust accordinly.

You could also try making your own 'icon' 64x64 from maybe a screen capture from your stairs in-game (in Gimp or Photoshop).

All the best of luck
