If that is a demo it might not have a exporter as sometimes the exporter and importer are gone. You're better off using Blender. Its not that hard.

Softimage|Mod Tool does export .x, it's just the Free version of Softimage|XSI directed at the modding community, of course commercial use (making money out of using the program) is forbidden.

The mod tool also uses water marks on screenshots/renders.

XSI 6 mod tool has the dx exporter built in
the exporter inverts z data so i'd recommend grabbing the free converter I wrote that corrects the z data (link in sig). You wont notice a problem in your models in dbp until you start making irregular/asymetrical objects. The DXZMirror converter corrects the issue. The help file with the converter app also explains how to setup the dx exporter in xsi

xD water marks aren't a render trick where your gas tank looks wet... Haha that's awesome, I've never seen someone think that before.

Watermarks = an image placed overtop your renders / animations saying it's licensed to whomever (in this case the makers of mod tool) = ugly thing ontop of your picture = bad.

Ah, I thought everybody knew what a water mark is...well kind of like having the DBP logo at the bottom in the demo of DBP, basically so you don't rip them off.
