This is completely and outrageously weird. Only 10 minutes ago, my program compiled and ran perfectly. Everything that I had in the game ran fine. Then, I tried to place objects in the level in a subroutine. The game compiled, started, went to a black screen, and closed. I rem'd everything out, thinking, "Oh well, I want to check the gun control one more time for bugs." I made absolutely sure I rem'd everything out that I had put in since the last good compile. Still, I got the black screen and close. So, I rebooted and tried again. Still no luck. With one final burst of hope, I copied the code to a different file out of the project and tried to compile. Again, it failed. Why has this suddenly happened?

A note: I'm not running the latest patch. However, I'm not sure that would fix it and the latest patch causes my textures to go screwy-looking.

Has anyone else had this problem before? I have included my code, and the entire subroutine _loadlevel1, plus the calling to it, are the things I rem'd out thinking they were the problem.

WHAT?!
Now it's telling me that it can't load my music, which is obviously there. Even when I comment or delete that line out, it goes to the next file and tells me it can't load it.

Previously, it was telling me it couldn't make the exe file when I compiled. Then it would run the last version, which froze when I wrote the words "Loading...Press any key to continue.

Please, someone tell me why this is screwing up so badly. This is (although you have no reason to care) deterring me from DBPro. I really like it though, but it seems to be so buggy it's nearly unusable.

shut down and restart up in case its a simple case of a memory leak due to hours of coding without cleaning up correctly or some small leaks we cant evaluate yet.

AAah that stanks Something like that happen to me before but it was with the cd.
I was playing some relaxing music while I code then I went to compile it to test it and it gets all screwy, because i forgot to turn off media player. Sometimes if i had mp3s or anime music videos playing on my media player it would ask me fore the CD again when I try and compile. But the closeing thing happens to me when I was doing network codeing. I think I forgot a ENDIF or something like that. I also got saveing problems, the only way i can save is by opening another file and then it asks you to save or close the compiler and it will ask you to save, and my copy paste thing is messed up too if I have the assistance mode turn on. LOL I think i got too much problems. But atleast it compiles right so I am not sad or mad.
Send me the game I will try to compile it on my DBP.

Make sure you use Windows 2k or XP for development. Win9x can't handle too many tasks such as coding music, developer app and such at the same time

Nope, no luck. It's still doing it. This really sucks. It's now back to going to the black screen and closing again. Man...I really liked making my little shooter too, even if it was impossibly hard. (sigh)

Have you tried running through in debug mode right from the beginning of your program.

I've had a similar problem before and this was the only way to track down where it was going wrong. It turned out to be a problem with loading some of my .x files.

No idea why it would suddenly just start though.

good luck in sorting it,

Trev C
