Now James; I don't think you meant any harm, but what you just did was put up a nearly un-altered texture that belongs to TGC. I've removed them both for you.

When we say that re-textures need to be significantly changed from the original, there should be next to nothing left of the original texture.

What you did was leave the body, face, boots, pants, etc.; intact. That's a no-no.

Please don't do it again.

Oh now i know why i did not see the texture....

The easy way is to right click the character once you place them in the editor then change the texture in its properties.

Another way is to make a backup of the original texture and place it in another folder.

Now put your new texture in the same place the original used to be and name it the same thing the original was named.

You need to have it in a DDS or TGA format to work.
( FPSC will look for a TGA if the DDS is not there.)
It doesn't matter which format you use as long as the file name is the same.
This way you do not have to edit the characters FPE file, which is another way to do this.

I don't think James had any malicious intent, and is just a kid that's excited about making a game; therefore I didn't come down hard on him. Lesson learned....right James?

Greetings All,

Here's a retexture of the WW2 Thug that I did a little while ago.

I call him Junior. Happy Halloween.

Personal use only.

Enjoy,

Seth Black

That's kewl, but Junior's hockey mask looks just like the one Jason Voorhees used to wear.
(In part 3 (which was in 3D) and later anyways)
But that was Friday The Thirteenth, not halloween, but this is good for halloween too.

...it's a Voorhees wannabe. I'm working on The Shape, as we speak.

...here's a snapshot of Junior, for those who are curious.

Quote: "Hello!

Since no one cant get a real answer of in wich grade we could retexture the FPSC textures I am asking you.

Are we able to just make small changes like adding blood to the original texture and still share it with the others if we don’t charge for them?

Or do we must to change everything in it to be able to share it?

Thanks!

An eamil I sent to Rick last month i think and this is the answer:

Quote: "Hi,

You can re-skin models from FPSC and share them with other FPSC users so long as you don’t sell them.

Rick

"

I take that like you could make changes but not need to fully retesture the character, but just changing eye colour or such things mayybe doesnt count as a retexture.

That is correct. Making minor changes does NOT constitute a re-texture. In James' case, you could still access the entire un-altered face, body, and clothes textures. Think of retexturing as completely changing the ENTIRE texture...like Seth did.

Fred, could I direct you to my thread in the models and media board? I have two textures waiting for a release, but I don't know whether the retextures I've done constitute a proper re-texture...
