I recently made my own muzzleflash. I converted it to DDS and got it working in-game, but now there is a black square around the flash which was visible when I began making the flash, but should be transparent in-game. The same occurs if I replace the black with white. Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks.

If you made the original file .bmp your fine. If you saved it as .dds then you need to make the black bit transparent.

Get a program like Paint.net then do it. In Paint.net you can save in .dds.

OK. Muzzleflashes are located here:
C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\gamecore\muzzleflash

All you need is a paint program and something to save your flash to .dds. Draw you muzzleflash and save it as .dds, then give it the name "flash8". Save it into the above, then open the gunspec of the weapon you wish to use the flash on.
The line you need to change is this:

muzzleflash = 1

Change that to:

muzzleflash = 8

And try the weapon.
There you go!

Thanks for the help! How do you access the gunspec? Oh and here's a free model just for fun http://files.filefront.com/Free+Modelzip/;8785019;/fileinfo.html

You're welcome. To access the gunspec folder, go to this folder, if you can navigate yourself there:
C: \Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\gamecore\guns\scifi\assaultrifle

EDIT: Oh, deathead, do you have any idea what I am doing wrong here? I downloaded Paint.net, and then it said I need .net framework v2.0. I downloaded that and installed it, but Paint.net still says I need .net framework v2.0. Any ideas?
