i cant seem to find a door which fits in to the walls! they leave big gaps each side. i have been on tester games and they dont have any gaps around their doors! what do i do??

You need to make a wall after you place the door. So make put the door where you want it, then make a wall (not a whole segment, just the wall part) and place it on top of the door.
