ok, i tried to look everywhere that i could and am not getting anywhere. i rigged a character in milkshape with the fpsc skeleton and export it as .x file. then i use the entity maker from the fpsc website. but, when i load to the game the character is there but not doing the animations like the other characters in the game. so, how do i get the character from milkshape to be completely fpsc ready with the animations? i will be very greatful for any help.

what exporter are you useing in milkshape? don't use the 8.0 one use the Jt exporter. Are you sure the skeleton that your rigging to is animated?

Not that abybody has, but you can't accuse this guy of not searching. To be fair, at least thirty locked threads have been posted asking this question, and never has it been answered. Try as I might, I can't get antything made and animated in Milkshape to even have a texture in FPSC.

Disturbing 13: i just used the JT exporter and it still didn't work. there are a lot of settings though and not too sure on what to select. so, i just kept everything on default. but i think that you are on to something. ok, you asked "Are you sure the skeleton that your rigging to is animated?"

now if i rigged the character what else would i have to do to get it to go with the animations in the game? i also noticed something else when i was rigging. the FPSC skeleton has of course your joints where the pelvis, left foot, right arm, etc. are. but, then you also have bones. and i believe there are 27 of them. now, do the bones also have to be rigged to the mesh? lol, this is probably a noob question...but.. well, i am one.

I guess I'll have to do a milkshape thread that explains exactly what to do. All has been explained before, but in threads not aptly named. I work almost exclusively in Milkshape for UV mapping, modeling, rigging ect., and find it's all about what settings you export as. Plus if your useing multiple programs to do things, don't, as everytime you put it in another program some other programs imprint is being forced on the model and more often than not you loose an aspect like UV mapping or animation. I'll see what I can do about a milkshape thread when I get some time.

D13. Really?

I usually leave loop animations unchecked, and use binary instead of S&B templates. SHould give you smaller file sizes.

Textures disappearing is pretty simple.

Check the materials tab... if you have more than one material in there, then it won't be textured in FPSC. Just before you export, delete ALL your materials, then create a new one and assign that to everything. Should solve the dissapearing textures.

As a point, the info That D13 posted is already in a thread by a guy called Manofart, he left a long time ago, but I guess the thread is aptly named : Help export milkshape model

Yeah I've been over run with allt of mails lately, so I figured I'd make a thread that was titled well enough since most seem to not be able to find it when they search. As for the settings I'll have to give that a try and possibly change my other post.
