I've made a simple door model and animated it with key frames. I export the file from 3dsmax with animations using the Panda DX exporter. However, the animation does not work in the segment creator. I end up having to rig the model up, but I'd rather not have to resort to fiddling around with bones.

WEll, I think because another engine I know requires Vertex Animation for Rag dolls... which FPSC X10 has got too...

I actually fixed it now. See my problem was I had animated it by vertex. It worked when I animated by model. However, it now means I need two models for the door, which has annoyed me :p

All my animated models except for the characters models I made do not have any bones, I just animated them using key frames in max, make sure when you export your model using the Panda exporter that your animation length in key frames in max matches that in the export settings in Panda or your animation will be missing parts or left out completely, and you have to make a custom fpi script for model and fpe file so FPSC knows how to access the animation, just making a animated model and dumping it into FPSC will not work.

Best
