Hello all, I need your opinions.

I have already posted a couple of road systems (Abby Rd & Penny Ln) for download but I would like to hear your opinions whether they can actually be of good use to you all.
The one real problem with these 'road systems' is that if you place an 'enemy ai' on them the enemy will not be able move from the spot they are placed on. Static objects (motionless) seem to be OK when placed, as well as any movement for your main FPS character.

I ask because I am at the moment trying to create a 'Themed Pack' of these road system segments which is going to take some time to finish and I would like to know if it's worth me doing so?

The Pack will be free but I would rather spend my time doing something which would be more useful if these road systems are not of much use to everybody.

Please let me know your 'honest' views on this matter in order to save me time
Should I carry on with this project or not?

Thanks for your time and I am looking forward to your response.

All the very best

Ross

Most definitely yes (apart from the enemy thing). If you have time, you could beta test my town level with is about 98% done to see how your roads fit?

Edit
Rounded pavement corners would be good, as well as road overlays (arrows, "STOP", etc...), this way you don't have to create a new segment for each. I couldn't really see the tyre marks on the Abby Road segments, but not sure if it had something to do with the way I lit the town.

Looking forward to your pack Ross.

In my opinion i think they are overused!
Man...why do we want them?!?

Nah just joking. I would love to see a road-pack.
And i know for sure that most of the people on the forums
would also love it.

It could be used for all types of games.
And i already have ideas for some levels that these road
segments could put into.

So my real opinion is:
Yes, this would be very usefull!

Cheers,
Cheese Cake.

And i hope you know i was joking about the:

I know there are already a few packs with the segments you are talking about, and their free aswell. I believe what FPSC needs is more tunnel segments, like expand on the ventilation system idea but for tunnel or cave segments. Also, there are not many packs that have random village features also, such as a church bell or picket fencing. If you wanted to make a pack like that, just go around where you live and pick out the "little" things you know, like a fountain or a archway covered in ivy or a clock tower. Just my opinion, but many games I see with FPSC are games lacking that little something in their environments.

He said, "You'll never be sober." Sure. Why would I want that?

I'm realy sorry mate, I'd like to beta test your town level but at the moment I am as always pushed for time and would like to get the 'Road Rage' Pack finished if the response is 'green light'.

I don't want to provide 'overlays' because i feel that users can do this themselves (depending which country they come from), plus this would give a lower frame rate when more are added to the roads. I will also look at providing as many usefull 'units' as possible.

I have finished a few new road systems which include a 'before & after' WW2 scenario and a sci-fi road system which I call 'metal city' which includes a new technique I am testing.

I hope that I get some C&C in order to carry on with this project.

All the best

Ross

EDIT...
Sorry you got there before I posted this to Nickydude.

Cheers, everything said is noted....joking aside, thanks your comments help me finish this Pack to help others.

Your a mind reader, I was thinking that I might make a 'fence ala wall pack' next with a few extra small but useful items. But one thing at a time though.

Again all the best

@Nickydude: I'll beta-test for you. I really want to see your game as it looks really awesome.
And ross I love your road segs. A tad hard to place but it comes out with great results.

Thanks to all with your response

It looks like it's worth finishing so I will carry on with it but you wont see the Pack for a while yet.

Good luck to you all.

I have been playing around with the Abby Road segments and I have to say they are useful (if you have released something since it shall be mine as soon as I can find where to get it).
This is some good stuff and you have put out a lot of good stuff as of late.
Allow me to take this opportunity on behalf of not only myself but the forum members in general for donating this stuff to the FPSC community).

Please have mercy and use the search function.

I think the roads look great! The only problem is that when ever I place it in FPSC it comes up white and screwed up
Any solutions/tips?
