I made it for Cash Curtis some millennia ago, but it was rejected. It's not a typical song anybody would want to put in a game anyway. I don't know what to do with this track, might aswell make it royalty free. If for some obscure reason anyone want to actually use it, some minor mention in credits would be nice, but it isn't obligatory.

03.mp3

Edit:

Yeah, so i made a new orchestral-like track and didn't bother to make a new thread about it since the thread's title already match. Much like the previous one, this one is free and is also some of my better work as i have been "hitting the wrong" key alot here.

That's pretty cool mate. Don't know what I could use it for, seeing as I basically make nothing, but I'd like to see it in something...

This would actually fit well with the title or opening story to my game which is just a little more than half completed. I'll have to try it when I create the opening video.

I have a vision of this playing in the background of a "select your gear" screen, if you've played those kind of games.
Doesn't sound like it could be a main theme or anything but a nice bit of patriotic background music lol I think it's the drums that makes me think that.

Not too sure about the beginning, too echoey for my liking.
There's a slight MGS bit towards the end

Nice trailing piano diddling on the end, I liked how it rounded off. And I liked how your motifs developed by the end also.

Thanks guys, to be honest, i had no idea what i was doing. just made it up as i went with no clue what i was aiming for. It was a fluke really. There are some minor things i'd like to change, but the source file is gone (amongs others). Currently in the process of remaking it though.

I actually like it Grandma.
I could see it being used in games, I'm gonna download it and if I end up using it in mine, I'll put a mention in.

Hehe learn some music theory and you will figure out why hitting the wrong key works sometimes

I'm starting to think that people dont think they need theory lol!

I've made several tracks i would consider good, without an ounce of knowledge in music theory. Haha, it's just a minor hobby for me. Don't plan on spending much effort on it, but if you know a good site or something that gives some guidelines and/or insight into music theory then i'll be happy to check it out.

Heh sorry I don't know any online resources. My knowledge comes from my years at college studying, now I use books for reference.

Trust me it helps to know what you are doing.

Okay, no problem. I'll go on a research spree on the webs later to check if i find anything good. If i do, i might make a new thread here, a nice place were we can gather good resources.

Grandma, those are awesome! I came on here looking for something royalty free, expecting some crappy MIDI sounding garbage...and then I stumble upon this little thread! Call it my luck.

Anyway, I figure the second one will fit in well being lobby music, getting the user pumped up before a round of deathmatch. Ill have to tweak it so it loops abit better, but I think its going to sound awesome. Thanks, and keep em rollin', one-track programmers like me depend on you media buffs!

cheers.

Just listened to the second one now; that's awesome!

You should learn some music theory though; I always appreciated the whole experimenting/finding your way thing, but a reasonable grounding in musical theory makes things a lot easier. At least learning things like scales - Major, harmonic & melodic minors, phyrigians and phyrigian dominants (great for metal) - all that sort of thing will help so that you know what will fit. Though by the sound of this you have a good enough ear for this not to need the theory, it might still be useful.

I would like to learn it, but i also find it incredibly booring to study for some reason. I'm just interested enough in music as to want to produce it, but just not enough to want to learn the theory surrounding it. I shall find a hammer and hit myself in the head for such a statement.

I like it (the second one anyway, the first one gave me a page error). As for music theory - personally I think it's much overrated. It's useful for understanding the music of those who composed according to strict rules - but that doesn't mean you need to know anything about it to compose. What comes out naturally, if people like it, is equally as valid.

I hope to find some better hosting place soon to get that fixed.

Same here, I only got the second one. I likes. I agree with Obese87, I think it would be great menu/cut scense music.

As for Junkrock's comments, he's right. Learning theory will make your music better. Just like studying any other craft.

Anyway, if you are looking for a self-study book, the Complete Idiots Guide to Music Theory. It's $20 U.S. and I am better for what I am learning form it.

This website http://www.musictheory.net/ is pretty helpful and you can download the site to your computer.
