3 Dimensional Chat / .3ds to .x - texture problem

ok, first, i'm not asking what to use to do this (i'm using some conv3ds program i found searching on this forum); i want to know if there is some certain setting to use when either exporting from 3ds or some setting to use when converting to .x to keep the objects textured? whenever i open the .x viewer (using the directx viewer of whatever it's called), the object is untextured. do i have to manually apply the textures in the game?

Have you put the texture file from the .3ds file in the same directory as Conv3ds.

just tried that, doesn't seem to work
