First off, this is my first post, so sorry if anything is wrong with like what forum division it's in or what not.

I downloaded GIMP 2 days ago and have used some online tutorials to start a couple of textures. I am just looking for some feedback on my textures for my upcoming game (American Infiltration Organization-working title)

The purple splatter is supposed to be the robot's "life-giving-property", the green thing that looks like grass IS grass, then there is a metal texture, then a wood (orangish)

I noticed there is a white dot on the grass, that is actually the cursor.

And as I said before, I am looking for ways to make the textures more realistic, as they are not because I am new to GIMP.

C'mon people, I know lots of people use gimp, I really need some feedback on these textures so I can make 'em game worthy.

I am mostly looking for feedback on the robot blood and wood.

Thx Fred. But I actually looked at that already, and I found it too confusing. But thank you for the tip.

@ Cram and FredP

Thx for the help with the guides, but do either of you have any tips on how to directly enhance the quality of my textures? (i.e-use the alpha channel to increase the unification of the layers(i have no idea what that might mean)

and also, how do i make that blood splat a decal (or whatever it might be called) so that just the FG shows and not the white behind it.

EDIT: I also am wondering: if you had say, a triangular door mesh, but you had made a rectangular texture, would the texture stretch to fit the mesh or do you have to make the mesh and texture congruent?
