I\'m going to get a 8800GT but recently i\'ve been hearing things about X10.1 and how none of the graphics cards out now will be able to use it including 8800GT should i wait for a graphics card which can handle this or go ahead with 8800GT

An 8800GT would work just fine with it. Speed wise they aren't much slower than a GTX (approx. 3%), and have 512MB of RAM which makes them absolutely perfect cards for FPSC X10 especially given their price!

It's also worth noting that most developers will not switch to DX10.1 because the 8 series will not run it. So in conjunction with Rich, you should go with the 8800 GT.

And if direct x10.1 doesnt run on any of the x10 cards then Microsoft have made a huge mistake! and they would loose out on a lot of developers using it.

@Dr Parsnips:they said it will be compatible with x10 hardware but it won't use the special effects of the new x10.1(exactly like it was when having a dx9.0 card but having instaled dx9.0c)

I'm surprised Microsoft didn't start using the alphabet again like they did with the different versions of DricetX 9, 9c they seem to love that (Direct X 10b, 10c) LOL
