Is it possible to have a static entity (like in Multiplayer) with a semi transparent texture aplied, come out smoothly, with full shader effects and full lighting..? Ive seen the windows in multiplayer is semi-transparent, and when I apply a semi-transparent texture to somthing, It just doesnt appear, only the shadow?

Im looking to do the same, well almost.

I want semi transparency in a segment,
I've tried 1 bit alpha dds1, that just gives a mask, when trying dds3 and 5 for semi transparency created by an alpha, in game the segment is just invisible, was alright in the segment editor program, what's the deal on semi transparency on segments, how is it done or is it possible.

Nah, I think its definitly a alpha map.. I noticed that the shader "CUBEENT" makes dynamic entities transparent..but magicly vanishes static entities... THERE REALLY MUST BE A WAY THOUGH.. I remember once making semi-transparent wall sagments, and it worked greatly, then, when building the game they didnt appear.. I think a transpoarent object should have no shader on, but then again, the window has!? Oh.. Confusion!!

Yes you can, Its part of the texture. You make a texture with transparency and it shows.

No, if I ad a semi-transparent object to a static entity it doesn't appear.. if tried many combinations, with and without shaders, different shaders, diffrent settings in prefrences, diffrent numbers in the "transparancy" field.. if even added a "texture_a_I.dds" to go with the "texture_a_D2.dds" like the window entity uses.. so its not that simple im sorry to say..

I just did a test on segments, only 1 bit alpha worked out, and others, no chance, the backgound was masked black, with just white lazer beam design across it, it wouldnt do it, yes in the segment editor, no in game, so no graduated tone being maked, Ill try a .png see if that works.
doesnt support .png, so for doing fine maks is a no, no, as 1 bit alphas are only good for grid shapes.
So I am stumped here, no transparency or graduated masks.

The windows are entities, built into segment in the same way as doors. You could try using one of the window fpe's applied to your semi transparent wall and place in segment creator, export this as a segment and then bring it into fpsc.

well if its an entity, then its not an issue if entities work, its segments, so if the sphere is a segment then thats good, if not then its not solving the problem.

fiddled with the fps, I dont know the engine very well, I cant see how this works at all. the windows in segments use a texture with the wrong file type, they are dds but say TGA, TGA will not support alphas, so what this I dont know, materials are listed as 17, that must be glass, not sure, mine was using 3, metal, anyway I tried changing its referance to a non exsistant TGA, as the windows do, and changing its material to 17, didnt do a thing, Ive no idea what to do with this at all.

No, thats not the prob.. You did not specify whether your sphere was static or not? cause on dynamic objects my texture works?
