I'm really new to DBpro and have just bought 3DWS to make maps. I've read lots of other threads but want to know exactly how to load a .x file and use it as the map.

load object <object number>, "map.x"

The map is actually treated just like any other object when you load it. It just depends on what you do with it.

i load maps/objects:

load object "map.x",1
load object "player.x",2
etc...

once you have loaded the object - you can call the object by number for your various needs...

move object 2,1
turn object left 2,.05
etc...
