I really don't know why I made this, I was just bored and started modelling a cartoon-style building, and this is what came of it.

It started out as nothing, really, but now I'm kind of thinking of turning it into something bigger and even maybe making a small city. It's untextured right now, but I can fix that eventually.

So waddya guys think of it? What can I do to improve it?

Looking at it now, looks fine. Perhaps you could post some more screenshots of other angles and possibly wireframes?

Thanks for the comments. I'm gonna fix up some of the normals, and clean up some geometry, then I'll post some more pics.

Really cool. You could make a cool cartoon city model pack if you made more an got them all textured.

Thanks, Jerok, that's not a bad idea.

Okay, I've cleaned up most of the normals and geometry. I'm gonna do a little more work tomorrow and post renders then.

Ugh...been really busy lately, sorry. Just got Rock Band. Anyways, I'll be free tonight so I'll start texturing as well as post some progress/wireframes.

Time to show more progress.

Rather than texture it, I've decided to go a little farther with the modelling. I've added more buildings, a river, bridge, and dock w/ a boat, a cliffside, and a huge elevator-type thing that brings people up to the cliff.

Solid w/ out smoothing:

I've added several buildings, a train track w/ a tunnel, some more trees, and a large boat crossing the river. I'm gonna expand a bit more and add some detail here and there, then I'll think about texturing.

Any suggestions on things to add would be greatly appreciated.

Looks good!

Points:
Train tunnel looks too low
Your Sleepers are above your railway

Everything else looks great. Good Job

Just a small thing, And this is only an opinion, i think the latest buildings you have added could do with a little more work compared to the first images you posted. The roofs are too uniform in comparison. Prehaps make them bow a little in the middle and make the lower walls bow out a little and the rail way line also looks extremly uniform compared to the first building, Prehaps rotate the sleepers a little or change the angle of the supports on the viaduct. I think this will add some continuety to the geometry, a little more randomness like in the original post.

This is only an opinion not a critism. I really like this and it has given me some insperation. I cant wait to see it textured as i think this will really hekp the model to stand out.

@ Deathead: Thanks, I'm considering it.

@ Frap: I TOTALLY agree with you there. I noticed that the more recent features lack the 'cartoon-ness' that I had originally. I'll see what I can do with them. Also, I did realize that the train track looked too 'perfect', but I thought it would take awhile to go through every sleeper and change it a bit, but I do think it would improve the overall appearence so I'll do that today.

Thank you guys very much.

Lol, maybe I should

I'm redoing the railroad right now, and I'm gonna redo/edit many of my buildings when I'm done.

Another update.

Listen, guys, I really like this whole idea, but I think I'm gonna work on a different way to present it. I was originally picturing a totally urban environment, and somehow this is what came of it. So I'm gonna go back to my original buildings but continue in a different fashion; the way I originally planned. Keep checking this thread for updates on my new one, though.

It's really cool looking, almost creepy. Give it ghetto, dirty textures, and a dark atmosphere and you'd have a nice cartoony horror game. Muahahhaa.
