Hi all, just playing around and simplifying a model toy pistol. I'm using Blender3d and this is the first time i've exported into a .x format. If it doesn't work for anybody let me know and i'll remove it and upload a different file.

Ok, I erred in posting here, can a mod please move this to the other 3d model forum? This is just a model, its not a game model.

Too high-poly. To make it lesser polys click on edit mode and then hit a to select all then click on mesh then scripts then Poly reduce and hit ok.

Removed as many polys as possible, to still have the look. The script blew it to smithereens and i deemed it unusable for this one. Still a useful script, thank you, i hadn't used it before.

The poly-reducer in Blender will produce a mesh that is terribly difficult to edit and UV map, just so ya know.

And it always triangulates the mesh when it reduces polys. Triangles are evil.

You can turn off the triangulation but it didnt handle the mesh very well either way, i decided not to use it. The mesh is almost entirely quads. I didnt reduce the barrel anymore because i want it to look as round as possible, plus it ruins the muzzle piece if you reduce it much more. This is as about as low a poly count as this model is going to get now. It didnt start as a game model.

There is a way to stop that.

Even considering that, reducing polys manually is the best thing to do; you have the most control over your topology and you can avoid triangles much easier.

Can someone post the fpe file for the basic pistol or at least the list of animation frames?

I'm doing this at work and game sites are banned through my server, (oddly enough i can get here).

A search of the forums just turns up fpe requests and some character files. Anything on the web ends up banned also. All i need really is the animation frame breakdown.

I'm sorry this is copying something everybody else ends up doing but i cant actually access any of the gamesite links i've seen them on, and my manual is at home.

really bad render showing an actual UV texture of the gun. I'm going to have to redo this eventually, once i find my reference photos.

I ended up removing a few more polys and cleaned the mesh up more. Then i remapped the UV because i wasn't happy with it. The texture is a little better now. I didnt like the looks of the green. I do wish i had a graphics tablet though.
