I've decided to step up on my modeling, and try to get good enough to sell.

So, I modeled a car. (exterior only) I chose the BMW Sedan because it seemed easy enough to start out with. Here it is:

What I would like you all to do is answer these questions...

(For all ratings, 1 is WORST, 10 is BEST)

1. What would you rate this model overall on how it looks, 1 to 10?
2. Would you pay $4.99 for this model?
3. Otherwise, what price would you prefer?
4. What model's would you like to see me make, that you would buy?

Thanks folks.

I like it a lot. However, you may want to model a little more of the detail, rather than keep it in the texture, such as the headlights, as they seem flat.

Thanks

Hmm... that's a good point. But there's a counter-argument to that, which is the fact that it's good enough showing up in the texture. My budget was 1200 polys. I already passed that, so I decided to keep everything else based on textures.

Would you mind answering the questions?

Thanks

1. What would you rate this model overall on how it looks, 1 to 10?
Heh, depends on it's use. For an indie lowpoly car, it gets an 8 from me.

2. Would you pay $4.99 for this model?
I don't think so. I'd either attempt to model it myself or ask some modeller friends of mine. $5 sounds like a reasonable price, though.

3. Otherwise, what price would you prefer?
-

4. What model's would you like to see me make, that you would buy?
A gangster in black 1930's clothes. But don't model it, as I can't pay you at the moment .

Ok, I would rate this car on a scale of 1 to 10...probably 7. The mesh appears to be pretty decent, however I think the textures seem a little too soft or something. The vertext based lighting in a few places doesn't seem to help it at all (never does so don't sweat it ^_^ ).

I wouldn't pay anything for it since I do all my own models, however 4.99 seems reasonable the way it is.

I want to see you keep making cars and release a full pack. Of course always strive to do even better than your previous models and if you find this one sucks 2 or 3 cars later, fix it up a bit, then sell it in a pack with the others

After you do that, move on to something else, whatever you choose. You are the artist, ultimately it's up to you to do whatever your creative mind desires.

That is a nice model, dude.

1. 6. If you make some adjustments in the texture (sharpness, alignment, remove distortions), it will rise to 8, in my humble opinion.

2. I would not buy a car model. I would rather buy a pack with many cars if I needed to make a simulation in a short time.

3. Skip.

4. I am a modeller, and I am learning how to make textures. So I am not able to buy things. ^^

Thanks everyone!

@tha_rami,
Thanks! Wow, 8 is pretty good!

@Agent Dink,
Hehe, thanks dude. 7 is less then 8, but still pretty good.
That's a good idea. I think I'm going to create more cars and then release a pack.

@5Louiz,
Thanks
I guess I'll just cross my fingers hoping that you want to simulate something involving a car pack that I'll sell

So I'll be making more cars. Once I do, I'll just ask a mod to rename the title of the thread.

Thanks everyone!

What cars do you think I should model next?

1. What would you rate this model overall on how it looks, 1 to 10?
From what I can see, I would give it about a 7

2. Would you pay $4.99 for this model?
If I were buying car models, yes I would.

3. Otherwise, what price would you prefer?
N/A

4. What model's would you like to see me make, that you would buy?
Currently I am not purchasing any, but if I were making a game, I would buy the most popular models for the game genre. It all depends.
