Well, I just have plain 'ol DarkBASIC Classic (aka, DBC), and so far it has done what I wanted. I'm in the Works of creating a game---whose name I will not give out yet---and so far I'm using DBC 100%. Well actually I'm using Blender 3D to design some parts of the level, but anyway DBC seems to be powerful enough to begin with.
Do your self a favor: decide which one sounds best. IF you have the money for it, get DBpro. I assume you can learn just as fast and easy as DBC.

Signatures....peh. I never come up with anything good to say in them. Ah well.

DBC = Starwraith, Dream and Soulhunter.
DBP = Geisha House, Final Exodus and Pirates of Port Royale.

The main difference is the "static objects" function !
I'm using DBC and I believe that you must use these static objects to get good results : speed, frame per second, number of object displayed depends on your ability to use the "attach object to static command". In my opinion you can use DBC to build cities, for games that takes place in cities. I'm making a city with DBC, I play Driver3 to see what kind of game I want to make. I will post about my project tomorrow.

I say download the demo(s) of the software you would like to try. But first MAKE ABSOLUTE CERTAIN that you have the exact system requirements...I downloaded the trial of DBP in January and didn't have the right specs. It ran fine until I tried to execute the sample files. I removed the demo in frustration. And then a few months later I figured out what was wrong, fixed it, and tried to download it again. It wouldn't run because I let the previous trial expire.

SO I downloaded DBC trial and it worked..for only 3 hours. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT SYSTEM SPECS.
