I was wondering, what are the best methods to make a character model? Box modeling was my first thought. I was thinking, maybe someone could make a quick 1 - 2 minute video with a speed modeled simple body? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not to advertise, but my current work is up on http://www.PlasmaArts.co.nr/ - Go to the Visuals section.

here's a brilliant video of a guy box modeling a character in three parts, I myself am trying to replicate this exactly as practice. http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/harshvideos/tut1.html

The word "Gullible" cannot be found in any English Dictionary.

I've found using 8 sided cylinders is the best way. If you can wait a week or two Im making a video tutorial on modelling characters with wings 3d (and then possibly texturing and animating them in 3ds max) for a school project. Not sure how long it'll take, but Ill post it on these forums when its done.

Until then, this is the tutorial that taught me how to model characters using the cylinder method:

personally i've always made characters using poly by poly becouse it alows me to have far more control over topology. people are one airia where you cannot have bad topology, or bad proportions. bad topology often creates creses where there shouldn't be creses. people know what people should look like, if anything is wrong you will notice.

Thank you, everyone, but I especially liked the method that RUCCUS referred to. It's very straightforward, and box modeling seems a bit difficult to achieve all of that detail.

Cheers,

I looked at some of the other tutorials, and, amazingly, I found them to be of little help [right now]. Maybe later in my 3D quest I will need them.

Cheers,
