Before I say anything, yes I have searched and I have found a few tutorials but they don't help much. I would like to know how to get a multi textured, static entity into fpsc. I have been able to get multi textured dynamic entities but there is no real collision on them. Please help, I am asking a question after I have searched so I don't think it should be locked.

P.S. I even saw RF tutorial but those weren't for entities.

For the time being, I have placed a dynamic entity with no collision and then placed a static entity in the same place (static is invisible) and it seems to work perfectly but I would still like to know how to do this without tricks.

darimc,

Piece of cake. I don't know what 3D Model program you're using, so I'll keep this generalized.

1. Work your model...resize, animate, whatever.

2. Remove all material & texture references that might exist.

3. Reassign the textures to the specific groups or vertices.

4. Export your model as an .x file. Place all of the textures used in the same folder as the model.

5. Open the .x file in notepad. Do a search for the work texture. What you're looking for is a line that points to each of the different textures that you used with the model.

6. Once found, everything between the "" will be the path to the texture file. Shorten or add a name here that matches the texture files in the model's folder. When you have examined and updated each of the texture paths, save and close the file.

7. When you create an .fpe file for your model, simply leave the textured = line blank...don't enter anything. When the entity is loaded into FPSC, the texture information encoded in the .x file will be read, and the textures will be applied.

You should be all set. I hope this helps.

You cant have multi-textured static entities in FPSC,only dynamic, this has been a long running issue.
Without knowing what your entity is and how you modeled it,its hard to say why you cant use collision with your dynamic entity.
You could always use a single texture and uvw unwrap the model.

Some animated objects have caused collision problems for some folks and its not something I have looked closely at myself,but characters and animated doors have collision.

Ok, thanks. I have found a good work around for it. You make a dynamic entity that is multi textured and then you turn the collision off. Then you import the exact same model but with a transparent texture. If you place them both in the same place, you will have a perfect multi textured entity.

P.S. My model was a giant castle.

You can't use lights either, otherwise the models turn white.

You can have static entities with multiple textures but only in fpsc V1.

FPSC has never supported multiple textures for static entities.

the entities must be dynamic, though you can change a few settings to give them the appearance of static.

Change the entity to "isimmobile" to yes. and BAM you have yourself a pseudo static entity.
