Please could a kind modeller make a low poly soldier please
It needs these things:

- Be in .3ds format
- Have a walking animation on the legs for 4 directions (left, right, forward, back)
- Have no weapon, but have the hands up to the face as though looking through a weapon sight (the game is an FPS, so the other characters must have the gun in line with the characters head.
- I should be able to rotate the meshes to aim the hands in a direction.
- The legs should be a separate model, but have the correct origin, so that if I load both the legs and body at the origin, they look normal.

It doesn't need to be particularly good quality, because this is just a small MP game I'm making that I will release for free, so that I can play it with my friends

Credit will be given, although it doesn't mean much, lol

Quote: "1. Credits. They don't mean sqaut. Being credited in a game might mean something if your game ships 3.5 million copies, but something tells me (grammar, spelling, your general programming experience and ... let's be honest, your choice of language* ) that it's unlikely. In summary, "credits" imply that the modeller will gain noteriety through the popularity of your game. Therefore, if you're game is a pile of crap, the modeller has wasted their time and gained nothing... "

Yeah, thats partially something that rhymes with collocks! Don't now where you've quoted it from but it sounds like something Raven would say! Some people are happy to just help out and some aren't so pessimistic. Besides, it is also a chance for the modeller to practise. Also, he asked for a kind modeller so if you're not interested then just don't bother replying.

@venge
That's why I said it didn't mean much
Also, my spelling is fine, my grammar is fine, I'm an experienced programmer, and I'm not using DBP for this, so all of those points don't work for me

I just thought that someone might feel in a christmassy mood, and knock a model up for me As I said, it doesn't have to be a work of art, just some thing that's better than using a cube (which I am currently!)

Thers a few free charactors on fps-files.com but you have to download all the fpsc files with it though. But I'm sure you can use the .X files in your game or you can convert them.

the dark gdk download has dark matter with it

there are a couple soldier models in there if you really need one. The models are only for personal use though.

Too me I think being given credit is cool wether the game goes big or not. To me it is a writen way of saying thanks by the developer.
And to some people, a simple thanks is enough.

The biggest acheivment I've had so far is when I received an e-mail from Caligari. It was an advertizement for truespace 7.5, well as I was reading through it, I reallized that my lotus model was one of the advert pics with a d/l leading to the model and had my name as the credit I was pretty geeked about it.

I have dark matter, but the soldier models are really not what I am looking for If you can imagine, in a multiplayer fps game, you are always looking directly in the direction of the gun, and it always shoots at a point in the middle of the screen, so I need to have the characters hands up to their faces as though holding a gun to look through the sites of.

Diggsy, what sort of thing are you looking for exactly?

I could probably knock something you could use up tonight, personally I don't mind helping out. Atleast you're a member who would appreciate the work done, rather than these newbies who believe people owe them something for nothing.

Have actually been in the planning stages of something similar, just finding it difficult to find the time right now to work on it.

Not too sure what you're looking for visually though, if you don't know either I do have something I tend to use when templating human characters; bit like a concept simplist human could edit it up to be limb animated instead of skeletal which it is currently.

@Raven
Thanks, I really appreciate that I am looking for a basic, modern (but not too futuristic) model of a soldier. He should not be holding a gun, but should have his hands as though he is. The hands should be held out level with his head, as though looking down the gun. He only needs a walking animation, (left/right/forward/back). It would also be very useful if the different parts are split up into separate meshes (eg. legs, body, arms), because the engine that I am using requires this.

you looking for a realistic, cartoony, stickfigure, etc. style?

I think given you need seperate limbs, having something more cartoony or stick figure would be quicker to get done without having horrible seems.

Guessing that polycount wise you're looking <1,000 something on-par with say Half Life 1 or Quake 3?

I need realisic (well not cartoony anyway), but it doesn't matter too much about seems, etc. The many thing is that it looks human, and will allow for good gameplay. That polycount is about right btw If you want, I can send you a copy of the game so far, which we can play online. I added you on MSN, although it took me a while to realise that your email and your MSN are the wrong way around

.obj file of soldier, if you want it. No animations, have to get somebody to animate and texture for you. I have the blender file if somebody wants that. Extremely basic figure.

Last file i'm going to post on this, in case somebody else comes up with something better. I ended up moving some of the vertices around a bit so this is the last revision of the base mesh. The textures except for the face are not mine so you will want to replace them. Its a .blend file obviously, but the textures have been packed with the file itself.
