Man, we're getting our butts kicked up here - in the midst of a brutal snow storm... calling for 20+ inches, and I'd say we're about halfway there already.
Anyhow, I've got some new info regarding your levels' performance on my PC.
After uninstalling and reinstalling both the latest video drivers and X10 itself, things seem to have perked up a bit for me
so I decided to run through the demos again - and it has proven to be very interesting.
I've tested the first and third demos as they are the same level geometry (the 2nd level would kinda be like comparing apples to oranges).
1st demo now loads in 6 minutes and 15 seconds (down from over 7 minutes before), and the framerate seems to hover (for the most part) around 20 fps when there's no baddies around. This is a big improvement over the 7 - 8 fps I was getting before! Even so, things are still a bit jerky.
When the baddies show up, (the initial 3 for example) the fps drops fairly quickly and significantly to 13 -15 fps, making moving/aiming/firing very jerky and imprecise.
There are a couple areas in this 1st demo where the framerate reaches 24 (once all the baddies are gone)
3rd demo loads in 5 minutes and 55 seconds, giving it a modest improvement over #1 - but the real improvement is in the framerate. This demo likes to hover in the 21 - 22 fps range when everything is calm, but the cool thing is that when the baddies show up it doesn't drop below 19 fps! Still, this is a bit jerky and imprecise for my tastes - BUT, a significant improvement nevertheless.
Can you elaborate a bit on what you've done in this latest demo to boost the fps? We can all learn a bit here I think
