Hi men, what do you think to create a "club" for skilled users of db and dbpro?

or like in the army, promotions to private to captain, colonel, or like karate, 1st level, 2nd level...

as in the previous post, i see most of we think there are very few users capable to think a game, develop it an make it complete, so , why not give they a reward???

In many ways Apollo is a club, only without the suggested ranking system.

In which care you might also consider www.realgametools.net

Whether the owner there can connect to the internet or not, they do have a kudos system.

The kudos system has is more of a negative thing than a positive. People seem to be worried about negative kudos, so they never post a single negative comment, even when its ANOTHER sphere on a matrix demo (cries!)

That's a good point you're bringing up.

Fact is,while I don't post everything that crosses my mind,I do post everything I think and believe in and if someone thinks he knows better then it's just great, that'll make two of us if that's ever the case.

Problem is,we're doing this through the secure/hidden comfort of the internet so (emphasis)alot(emphasis) of users don't 'show their real selves' therefore using all kinds of 'images' and defense mechanism much often relied to a fear of being judged...

rob k, you seem to be very frustrated with sphere on matrix demos.... maybe you should try making one and you might surprise yourself over just HOW impressive a sphere on matrix demo could be

uk.geocities.com/maniacimagine check it out. ill soon be formally opening it.

DBDN isn't for skilled users, it's for people with money to burn and people who can be bothered with the 20-line challenge.

"HOW impressive a sphere on matrix demo could be"

Unsurprisingly, that was the first thing I ever did, except the sphere rolled properly and had proper physics.

- Beta Patchs for DarkBASIC/DarkBASIC Pro
- Beta Versions of other DarkBASIC Software
- Development Diaries of all of the DBS Members
- Direct Communication with ALL of the DBS Team

there are alot of other reasons but those are the main, i mean i've heard that DBDN members currently have a sneak preview of the new IDE - and we're all still waiting just to find out what it hoped to be included into it.

'i mean i've heard that DBDN members currently have a sneak preview of the new IDE'

I'll tell you that I know if that's true or not, but I can't tell you either way because the contract covers me

DBDN is an excellent community of skilled coders. They also get to beta test patches, look at new features early (which comes with the previous), look at the dev diaries, and yes, as Raven said, all of the DBS team is there and in much more direct contact. It is well worth the money for signing up, and the cost keeps the riffraff out.

I have signed 2 DOND's for DBS so does the double negative rule work?

Witchbomber, use elementrey logic, would you? Just because a square is a rectangle dosen't mean a rectangle is a square. Similarly, just because all riffraff are not paying people, dosen't mean that all paying people are riffraff. Jeez...

In can trow my money out of the window, make a present to my cat or subscribe to DBDN ; it's the same thing!(no.. my cat will be happy with its present)

I don't known Raven how are the schools in USA, here in Italy we have a lot of idiot in expensive schools as in cheap schools.

lol i'm not sure about US school either mate... i'm from the UK, and i know more morons in Public (Private for the Americans) Schools than there are in State Schools

i went to the best school in my area which was a State School, i see DBDN as a frill too ... i mean if DBP was still only in Beta testing then yeah it would be worth it - but as it stands the users are really just Beta testing the program fixxes, and it seems a little silly for the team to be developing new functions which could go wrong if they don't even have all of the core release functions working 100% yet, no?
Perhaps in 6months time when DBP is out of it current Beta state release and its setup & engine are more stable and finalised (c'mon what programs do you know which are released and then a COMPLETE engine overhaul happens?).

that aside it seems silly to say it keeps out the riff-raff anyway considering right now if people pay attention to the current DBS special then well you'll see its cheaper through that

Sì, capisco.

"casetta means" means "small house" because "casa" means house and etta makes it small.
I think.
I'm learning Italian in school.

INCREEEEEEEDIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Good one, you're near to be right.

"etta" don't make it small, it make it Kindy.

So CASETTA means "Lovely house"

"ina" is to make it small, CASINA (CASA+INA= CASINA)
The way to make it small and lovely, is CASETTINA (CASA + ETTA + INA)

I am a DBDN member. I cannot tell you what is there because of the agreement, but I can tell you my own usage habbits... I can tell you Lee recently ignored my emails but did answer a non-DBDN members email from the same team - although he clearly had not read either email when he answered, and I can tell you that I use this forum more than I use the DBDN forum when I want technical help.

lol Ermes they i don't remember modems being available nor ISPs for homes users prior to '88, but that might just be in the UK i don't know. first ISP was CompuSERVE (anyone remember them?) you had a whoppinly fast 9600 (slower than fax lol) internet speed which this page along would've probably taken the better half of an hour just to load up (you think i'm joking lol), i'd used it primarily to talk to people about the upcomming Elite2 and something called HTML 2.0 which was suppose to revolutionise the entire Internet.
And when i finally upgraded to Windows 3.1 i got to see what it was all about

just image what excitment it would've been for you to log onto the internet see a little peice of text say "Loading" and a picture of the CompuServe logo appear before you very eye
Ofcourse after that you had to upgrade to a 28.8 modem cause you needed the fasted to see all of the pictures on the websites, that still mainly use basic text
I know it doesn't seem like it but those crap educational sites you see with nothing bar text and a one or two images now - but when for the past 2years you'd been using a DOS based bulletin board which was essentially

(well you get the idea lol)
to an actual picture backgroud hehee seems exciting

Just a quick question, and no offence intened, but why is it that noobs and people first joining the forum (offen called noobs aswell) seam to wanna create a so-called elite forum, club, or whatever, when if it was created they probably wouldn't get in?

ya know what the weirderestest thing is?
is that those who want to create these exclusive club actually couldn't get in anyways

i mean you think about it, the only real thing you could go on for being an advanced person in dbp/db is really the work produced and length of time you've been using them - its like over at GFX, although all newbie would like to be within the Elite Section of the forum you have to be active members for around 2months with work already shown then upload a piece of work which you hope will get you in.

so even a newbie even if they are pretty pro already and can produce breathtaking work cannot just waltz in be as brasen as they like and just be waved into the Elite Section.

and it is more a case of popularity then being professional, although it is ment to be a section for the more Pro artists can just show off, you're voted in by the community as a whole so if your the best dang artist there but you have no coverage you'll never get in cause no one will see your work.

lol sorry for getting so serious on everyone there, it won't happen again i pwomise

Arrow, i'm using DB since 1999, (1.0), And joined the forum of DBPRO just the 27th of May,2003 as you can see, because there isn't a showcase in DBPRO site. I would like to place my remarcable work on a place where discuss it with people who know what it's really make a game or a program.
It must work to share advice, info, tricks and others useful ones.

"They will get in/join, but when they got in their own club, there will definitely be a "so, err.. wat r we gonna do?""

Maybe some ideas came from a serius and capable mind, not from a fart ballon.

I'm not telling you i want to be the president...
I'm telling you if we can create a little site where place our works, and let the other user download and enjoy our games.

Maybe a satellite site of DBPRO site.
