Hey all, just finished the semester, my final project in 3D Animation was to make a 15 second animation with a textured object moving around in a lit scene. Kinda did a bit more than that. The quality of the movie is OK - I missed a couple things with the camera panning, and when I went to re-batch render overnight, my HD filled up at 270 frames so the render didnt finish Either way, I have both my PC and my Laptop here at home, so I'm gonna throw Maya + my project on my laptop, do a few quick camera fixes and then render the thing out in Mental Ray with all the settings cranked all the way up for a much nicer looking production Anyhow, enough jibber-jabber, heres my project....

Tools: Modelled & Animated & Skinned in Maya 8.5, Textures with Adobe Photoshop CS3, Batch Render Composed into a Movie (.mov) in Adobe After Effects CS3 (aka. bane of my existence)

Click Here to Watch (.mov embedded in a .swf with preloader)

Enjoy! Comments appreciated. New render coming in a week or so, expect much higher quality!

That is a cool video, even though I did not understand the joke.

I like that grass, but I did not see dynamics between it and the characters. I bet that Maya has a static particles physics symulator. You could use that and a longer grass to add some eyecandy. Just an opinion, though.

Well, what would have to be done would be a mix between particles, and using hair - which can be effected by Physics - so yes, you're absolutely correct that I could have done that, but I simply didnt have the time

The joke is based off a series of "Red Stripe" beer commercials, youtube it or something, they are pretty funny The actual knockoff is of this one...

Its a domokun, but I didnt call it a domokun because the commerical just says "boo creepy foot doctor" so in order to keep the same number of syllables, i just said "brown thing"
