Hey.

I'm just putting this out there.

I'm currently trying to get a multi-textured character into FPSC- his gun and his body use different textures - and I'm having real trouble getting them both to show up. The body texture is the first in the export list, and the gun is the second.

THe FPE file is blank in the texture field, but in game only the body texture shows up. Gun and body texture are both in the smae folder as the X, the DBO and the FPE.

Has anyone had any luck with anything like this, or is it only possible to have multitextured non-character entities?

Thanks

(PS, if you don't know, please don't be a retard and post "dunno mate, probably cant be done.) !!

It would be possible...

MP 9 & 10 also uses multi textures...

But normally you would have to delete the DBO files right?
Or at least i do...cause they allways cause trouble.

hmmm I may give this a go for myself. I did notice that mp9 and 10 had some .dds and some .jpg. I don't know if that means anything but multiple textures would be great for characters. hope you find the solution.

If you model the character and the gun separately and give them different textures wouldn't that do it?Hey...beats "it can't be done"...if you make them separate models, texture them and then combine them into one model would that work?
You might e-mail Lee and ask about this.I am not sure myself.Rats...now I have to check this out myself...

semi off topic question (about characters but not textures) does anybody know off hand if I reanimated a character (let's say Aiko) by removing all of the animation frames but the ones I needed for a certain script to work would that speed thing up?Would it not be quicker if the character just has a few frames of animation to go through and the engine would only have fewer frames to deal with as well?...if any of this makes sense...

I figured as long as we are throwing wacky theories around I throw mine...

Please have mercy and use the search function.

It is possible, as entities made in anim8or can support multi textures when you use anim8or's UV-mapper.....

It somehow lays a UV map onto the models mesh, so all it needs is the corresponding textures and it calls them up.....

But we all know it can't do characters and is also pretty rubbish\trash.

@FredP.
It might i guess, but i doubt it as FPSC would only think about the frames it needed anyway.......

Not that i'm saying it certainly won't work, 'cos it might.

FredP...i dont know if it will work with the framerate...
But i do know it would save your game's filesize in the end.

I don't use Maya so I'm not familiar with the export functions I would say that you should make sure that the texture files are exactly the same as those you were using within Maya.

@FredP- yes it does. It works... a bit. I practice this myself. The Xombies in Grave Danger are set up like that and also take up less space in a game when it comes to hosting. The Creeps and Freaks zombie pack is the same as well. that's why there is a zombie script only warning for them.

It works.
I have shaders on and dynamic lighting off.
The tank has its own texture and the person has their own texture.
