I am trying to use DBpro in my school, and use a program created in DBpro as my computing project.
I have installed the 30-day demo in my account at school, although hardly any programs run. I get errors like "missing DDdraw.dll" and "failed to load DBproInputDebug.dll". Very simple programs (printing text etc) seem to run ok. I presume the errors are due to the school only having DirectX 6.0

I cant install DX9 - the install program seems to work, but after necessary restart, DX6 is still installed.

To what extent would i be able to use DBpro with this old DX?
Would the original DB(non-pro) work ok on DX6?
Thanks for any help

You need a minimum of DX8.1 for DBPro, although that will be raised to DX9 with the next patch.

You need a minimum of DX7 for DBC.

I doubt that either would run without the required level of DX.

the text/file/core work without DirectX
they use the standard Windows things i think, which is probably why they also will start instantly rather than waiting 4seconds and unpakcing them all, blah blah...

but i'm not sure what kinda game you can make from just letters & arrays ... maybe make a cellphone style game hehee

I pride myself that i don't kill...
well not without a good reason

Actually - It would be quite useful if we could make command line apps in DBP, for servers for example.

Do you want Windows menus in your DBP apps? - Get my plugin: http://snow.prohosting.com/~clone99/downloads/tpc_menus_103.zip
