Wow! That's a damn fine bargain!!
Now, how does PST relate to GMT...

PST + 8 = GMT

I hope they don't have a limited amount of copies to sell. This will probably be VERY popular! $89 bucks for that package is too good to be true, especially with the standing of the dollar at the moment versus the euro!

Thanks very much for the header!

JimB, do you know if you order GameSpace via this offer wether you get a digital distribution copy or wether you get a CD with the program and a hardcopy manual sent (or, of course the option to download already and get your goods sent afterwards)?

Hi Yskonyn I have just asked on the Truespace forums and I'm waiting on a reply, but usually you can choose digital download or CD boxed versions the latter costing more because of shipping though.
I will hopefully return with an official answer soon.

I pressed the 'order' button at the GameSpace website at Caligari - just to see where it brought me - and it says 'gameSpace 1.6 downloadable' in the object description, so I think it will be the digital version, just as the version you get when you order here at TGC.

In fact, I've done some math and if you order with TGC you get GS 1.6 with 4 video tuts (going for 15, 30,30,30 dollars each respectively on caligari's site) for 175 dollars.

Even with the discount from Caligari's newyears offer you only gain 20 bucks if you order at Caligari including the video's and if you can't make the first hour of the offer you even have to pay more if you want the vids if you order at caligari. . .

Normal price at Caligari is 299 dollars, here at TGC they offer 175 dollar including 4 vids. 30% discount, they say, but isn't this way more than 30%?
Or is it a different version of Gamespace with less features??

Getting a little confused now. . .

Also I would like to know if the mini-courses are worth getting or don't they add anything alongside the manual?

Idealy you should try out GameSpace light before purchasing, just a heads up on the undo system it is NOT global that is you can only undo the last operation, the way around this is to save your work often.
http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/gsl/gsl.asp

Regarding the training courses you can browse them for yourself, there are also one or two free videos in each course allowing you to judge for yourself if they are useful or not.
Also please bear in mind that there are some courses that do not apply to Gamespace such as nurbs modeling.

Hey JimB, thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood!

I have already tried gsLight. I've also used TrueSpace 3 before and I know I like the program.
I am just a bit confused about the different pricing on either TGC's website or Caligari's.

The courses I am talking about are NOT the same courses as the ones from the newyear's offer page!
I was refering to the mini-courses which you can order here:
http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/tutorial/video.asp

Those seem to be the exact same video's already included if you order here at the Gamecreator's?
Which makes the pricing on both sites quite different.

To compare:
Normal price at Caligari for GSpace 1.6 is 299 dollars.
Newyear's Offer wil be 89 dollars the first hour, 129 dollars the next 24 hours, after that 299 dollars again.
This is GameSpace without the mini-course videos.
The mini-courses are 15, 30, 30, 30 dollars each, respectively on Caligari's website.

Holiday offer here at the Gamecreators website is 175 dollars for GameSpace, but WITH the 4 mini-course video's.
So simple math will tell us that if you want the videos as well you're only a small bit cheaper at Caligari if you can make the first hour of the newyear's offer, but you already have to pay more at Caligari's for the whole set if you miss the first hour and have to go for the newyears offer of 129 dollar for gamespace!
Including the videos you come at a total cost of 129 + 15 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 233 dollars, while here at TGC you can get the whole pack for 175 dollars!

So eventhough Caligari has a huge newyear's offer for the program itself; its not a very good deal if you want the video's, unless of course the version you order here at TGC is different than what you get if you order at Caligari. That's what I would like to know.

Also, I would like to know if the mini-courses are worth getting (there are not previews available for these), because if they cover things also covered by tutorials freely downloadable (maybe at 3rd party websites) it would be better to wait for the newyears offer at caligari to get GameSpace itself at a bargain instead of ordering here at TGC to get the whole pack cheaper, but then including videos you won't have much use of.

Could you have a look and see if these 7 courses are the complete tutorial sets by Drew Clark?

Yes sorry, I forgot to edit the last part of my post.
Indeed 4 courses are done by him. I've watched the first 2 and they are definately well worth the money. Very clear.
Thanks again for the pointer!
