How should I go about copyrighting names of games, and the ideas, along with a business name?

Although I really don't need to worrry about this until I release anything commercial(I figure 10-16months), how would I go about doing this.

By the end of 16 months hopefully I'll have enough money to do this.

I'll further investigate and post any links I find and you're welcome to also.

I already found some links worth investigating if you plan on owning a business and copyrighting software.

investigate the links on the left hand column, for they give some good info. and advice.

Move to the UK as it is free

The Outside is a evil place to be, too much light, too much noise and too many distractions....
I went outside once and my FPS rate dropped to 5.

Dunno about games really. But years ago I remember Speccy game writers used to mail them selves a copy of the game (as in snail mail) before they talked to anyone. Hopefully a 99% complete version obviously. They would then never open the package. Then if there is a problem with a company nicking your game you can give the package to lawyers and have them open it and examine it (ie. witnesses). Only hope the company hasn't totally revamped it. Still, was a neat idea at the time.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

If you arn't prepared to invest the large ammounts of time, money and stress that would be involved in protecting an idea then it's proberly a bit pointless other than to protect yourself from others saying you stole their idea.

Right now I really don't have to worry about copyrighting games, but I know in the future someday I will.
So I figure I should start reading up and and preparing now, so I will know how to handle myself.

We have extensive intellectual property contracts at moment and they seem good for working in a team. Stops any one person from running away with the idea. If not I believe if you write a statuary declaration before you start and have a J.P. or notarary sign it. That should stand up in court. Most these people will sign documents for free. Just an idea
