I havent seen too much about this book and others ratings but have indeed purchased it my self.
After having completed reading the book I must say YES it IS worth the purchase and time spent consuming its contents. it IS very easy to understand especially with the source CD supplied with it. And NO you would not need any previous programming experience to grasp what its teaching.
There is several flaws in the source code provided in the book but all are correct on the CD.
By no means is this book a solution to all and no you wont be coding serious games after but certainly will be coding multiplayer internet games and on a very very strong path to advanced DB programming.
Very easy to read, very clear with out dragging on what its trying to teach and keeps its reader interested.
I used this with DarkBASIC Pro with a great degree of success and zero previous DB experience.
Im really hoping to complete my current multiplayer game soon and make it available with a step by step tutorial with equal clarity to this book for newcomers.
