I've been messing about with the boxes tutorial for making a text box appear, and now I've made a little conversation between a bartender and a guy called alex (thats irrelevant.) I've been trying to get it so that you input a name and it changes alex's name to that. i used the code input "Change alex's name to > "; name$. I then later had the line center text 320,152," - name$ -". I ran the code and in the message box it says name$ even if I set the variable to something else :-s

I think the error may be that you are putting " " around the string variable name. I think you should be writing instead:

center text 320, 152, name$

Remove the " " and see if that works.
