a monthly -- themed? -- project to create audio for the TGC community to use freely. Like how people make dlls, games, editors and source code avaialble?

Doesn't have to be super big, or complex. We could shoot for a few tracks and maybe some sound effects. The idea is for it to be fun and a way to "level up" our music and production skills.

I understand if someone who actually sells music through the forums doesn't want to participate, but it's a great way to give back and get some additonal exposure.

Anyone interested?

I would probably do this, although it would depend on the theme and if I had spare time.

common people are walking in line.

I'm excited about how many folks are volunteering - the more the merrier. If you are not real sure of you composing skills or feel a little rusty don't sweat it. I'm still green myslef. Plus, like anything else the more you practice the better you get. And, I'm sure anyone in the group would be willing to offer advice if you ask. Just remember not to take it personal, the feedback may sting, but they are trying to help.

So far I have....

Me, Lucifer, Profit, Grandma, Torsten Sorensen, blobby 101.

I'll start a new thread tomorrow and we can talk about if we want to make our first one in January or February, what the theme should be, what people are interested in contributing etc. Is eveyone is cool with that? We also need to agree upon a name for our music pack.

Very cool

I'm good at making weird guitar tones, drum beats, finding sounds that work together, but (Go ahead, laugh.. ) I can never seem to get bass parts quite right..

Nah, nothing to laugh at. I've made 10-30 second peices that were far more engaging than some full-length ones

Plus, SoundFXs and Soundscapes would be just as valuable a contribution as a song.

Even though this has been moving down the board for a while, I think it deserves a bump. It could be an interesting project!

Thanks Torsten.

We just passsed our internal soft-deadline for the first round of submissions. Plus, I have been out of pocket too. We're not dead. Just quietly plotting to take over the world.

Why not set up a competition for people to make a track in return for something
maybe a title like king of composition heh that will help motivate people.

Oh we all know who that is. But it's an interesting idea. Don't know how it will work with the title though, how it's presented and in what form. A bunny? A badge like the one mods have? A sig? A virtual pat on the back? We'll see.
