OK, I've just migrated from DBC to Pro, and I can handle most of the new commands. Overall, I would say DB Pro is an extremely good upgrade, but what on earth is all this vector buisness?

One thing Pro lacks is a valid help system. Most entries in the Help don't go beyond two lines, so I have to resort to you, my DarkBASIC Companions

Could someone give me a valid explaination on Vectors and related commands and their application within 3D Programming.

Thank You

Thanks for the links Mike, but does anyone know how to use them effectively within a game? Has anyone actually used vector calculation in a game?

Thanks

I use vectors... but I don't use the DBP vector commands, so sorry . I would go the old sine and cosine way if I were you though. The most practical use of vectors in a game is to keep track of the speed of an object while traveling.

Well..if you try the example in newsletter 6 (2Dto3D) you might have an idea of what can be done with a few lines of code and those..
not within my skills unfortunately...

Woah, Mike ("the man of few words") actually posted. Interesting.

Don't know how good those links are but to put it simply, Vectors are related to Distance and Displacement. Distance is how far you travel where as Displacement is how far you are from where you started. Example:

You move 5 Steps forward and 2 steps back.
Distance is 7 Steps in total.
Displacement is 3 Steps from where you started.

Vectors are basically your displacement in a direction, so using the above example, if you stepped North then your Vector is "3 Steps North".
