Hi all i have created this goblin dude for my upcoming horror pack,
The horror pack hopefully will be free depending on the help from the community like if i have to work out everything and it takes me years to complete then it would most definatly make sense to sell it if i do decide to sell it tho when it is all done the pack shall be at a very cheap price.

He is still at a high poly as i made him before i knew about the restrictions fpsc had on polycounts
Although it would be helpfull if some one was to tell me a way on 3d max to reduce the polycount a tad but still keep him in good form

Also please post comments and such.

...if you forward him to me, I'll reduce him down for you.

What's his poly count now? How far do you want to reduce him?

Thanks,

Seth Black

Yeah, do it by hand. If you modelled it, then you know how to reduce the poly count.

...got it. How far do you want to reduce him?
Give me a polycount, and I'll get him there.

...you created this in Creature Creator, right?

EDIT: 5000 isn't suitable for FPSC. I'll put him at 2500, and we'll see what happens.

...okey doke.

Here's your Goblin Dude, as a low res model.

He started out at a whopping 32,936 polys, but I managed to knock him down to a very FPSC-friendly 2,378 polys.

Creature Creator is a handy tool, but it always creates a model without coordinates, and the model is always tiny. I left the size alone, but did optimize the model, and UV map it.

Thanks,

Seth Black

...there wasn't any hair on the model you sent to me.

That was just the model itself...that hair would make it go even higher.

The hair is a modifier and would only show up in 3D Studio Max.

Nice work windows98.

Hey Seth,
Can we see a screenshot of the low poly next to the high one?

Are they the same size so the high poly one can be used to normal map the low one?

It would be neat to see the High Poly, Low Poly, and Low with High Bumped.

Don't forget to visit Conjured Entertainment

He has used Creature Creator, which is very much like Make Human. He has not modelled any of the models he has claimed to of have.

It's fine for making images, but its no good for games. I'd suggest you learn to model.

...per your request, Conjured Entertainment.

For all intent and purpose, the model did remain the same size, as the original. No doubt the hair took the brunt of the poly reduction.

It appears that one of his legs is shorter then the other, If you try to animate it I'd make him walk a little odd. Since his legs are not the same size.

Anyway, that's quite a nice Poly Reduction there Seth, no doubt it will work in FPS Creator now!

...yep. I just reduced it down, I didn't edit the mesh in any way.

Could always do a custom vertice modification, and give him a pegleg!

I know, as the highpoly one has the same problem as the low poly one.(Well, not really a problem)

Hehe, that would look odd on a goblin, but then again... It is a goblin... And they always look odd.

That mesh is nasty! In no way would that be UV mapped properly or even animated decently. Shows you how crap generated models can be, they might look good, but deep down they are truly awful

I wouldn't touch it

Higgins, stop now. We don't do things that way in this area of the forum. We play nice around here, and ask that they correctly alter all posts that have false statements.

He made this thread before he realised his fault in the other one. So, windows98, could you kindly alter your posts to correctly reflect that you know that the work displayed here is not of your own and was made using the appropriate creator?

Of course, you can use this to release a nice model pack for FPSC, but unless you have a license for the creator stating that you can sell the models created from it, then I think it might have to be a free pack for everyone or some legal issues could ensue.

The one and only,
