I have this problem with the faces of my boots model. Please look at the picture.

The circle and the arrows point to a few of the problem faces. I've tried removing doubles and recalculating all surface normals. Please, I need help quick. I am on a time schedule.

Make sure you arent rendering backfaces, looks like that face is flipped which is causing the normals to go all screwy.

How do I do that (I just switched to using blender two days ago)?

Also, I've already tried selecting a face, then flipping it (this doesn't have to do with your comment, it's just an update).

ctrl+n in edit mode.

if you tern on sub serf then any flipped normals will appear as a black splodge on the mesh

Note, when you press Ctrl-n make sure you have all faces selected (Hit 'a'). Also it isn't subsurf that shows normal problems, it's when you set the mesh to smooth rendering. You can also hit 'draw normals' in the edit menu to see more exact normal problems.

This is a random sentence about squirrels.

"ctrl+n in edit mode.

if you turn on sub serf then any flipped normals will appear as a black splodge on the mesh"

This problem started out when I turned on smoothing (without using sub surfacing). Then I used the ctrl-n command to recalculate the surface normals and I ended up with the reversed faces.

Anyway, A friend told me how to fix it this morning. What it actually was, was an extra face (or two) inside the mesh. How it ended up that way, I have no clue since I created all faces once (I assume it had to do with the smoothing process).

Here's how I fixed it (in case it helps anyone), with nothing selected I went to select - non-manifold in the toolbox menu, then deleted the selected faces. This fixed them, with only one or two holes in each boot that I quickly filled in.

Thanks for the help, and the quick response.
